Convert one supported HEIC photograph without a cloud upload
A phone-exported HEIC or HEIF file may not be accepted by a general upload form. This workspace decodes one supported static photograph locally and prepares a JPEG. HEIC containers can also hold multiple pictures, auxiliary images or other information. This version handles the verified single-image 8-bit SDR profile. A container it cannot safely process is refused, so other content is not silently discarded to make the operation appear successful.
Keep the original phone or camera file as your own backup. JPEG is widely usable, but it cannot preserve every HEIC container feature and has no alpha transparency. Confirm the output background, dimensions and quality, then inspect the normalized direction. For HDR, high-bit-depth or Live Photo workflows, use a tool that supports those features; a conventional JPEG is not a complete archive of the original capture.
Worked example
If a supported single HEIC photograph is needed for a JPG-only form, choose the photo and preserve its displayed dimensions before generating the JPEG. The orientation is handled as part of decoding. Compare the downloaded image with the source. A refusal of a multiple-image or unverified container is a supported boundary, not a reason to upload it to an automatic fallback.
Local processing and limits
One supported static image is processed at a time. The general input limit is 10 MiB and twelve million pixels; AVIF processing is limited to four million pixels. Unsupported animation, image sequences, HDR and unverified container features are refused. Large images need more memory even when their compressed file is small. A failed operation does not switch to a server-upload fallback.
The browser downloads its own application and codec resources from the same host. Your selected image, result, filename and metadata are not sent to an upload service. Images are not written to localStorage, IndexedDB or a service-worker recovery cache. Reloading the page leaves the image workspace empty. Downloaded files remain under your control; inspect them before sharing.
