What this tool does
Combine basic text counts with case conversion in one workspace. Counts use whitespace and punctuation heuristics; reading and speaking times are estimates. This tool does not compute word frequency, vocabulary complexity or readability scores.
How to use Text Analyzer
- Enter text. Type or paste a draft. Counts update as you edit. For “Cats run. Cats sleep.” the tool reports 4 words and 2 sentences.
- Read the counts and estimates. Review characters, characters without whitespace, sentences and paragraphs. Reading time assumes 200 words per minute and speaking time 130, rounded up to whole minutes.
- Convert case if needed. Choose a case option to create a separate result, then copy it. Review names, acronyms and formatting before replacing your original text.
How this tool works
Splits words on whitespace and sentences on punctuation; estimates time from word totals. Case conversion creates a separate result.
- Engine: Whitespace and punctuation counts with case conversion
- Supported input: Plain text
- Output: Counts, timing estimates and converted text
Worked example
Input: Cats run. Cats sleep.
Output: 4 words; 2 sentences; 1 paragraph; reading estimate 1 minute.
Limits, edge cases, and troubleshooting
Check draft size and format text in one place. Inspect acronyms and proper names after case conversion.
- Reading: 200 words/minute; speaking: 130, rounded up to whole minutes.
- Does not compute readability, word frequency or vocabulary complexity.
- Punctuation and whitespace rules can differ from your editor.
When to use another workflow
Use Readability Score for a separate formula-based estimate and your submission system for its official word count.

Verification
Implementation checked on 2026-09-27. The displayed example and documented limits were checked with synthetic inputs. Unsupported input and the distinction between an estimate and a verified result were reviewed.
Supported inputs and limits
- Plain text
- Reading: 200 words/minute; speaking: 130, rounded up to whole minutes.
- Does not compute readability, word frequency or vocabulary complexity.
- Punctuation and whitespace rules can differ from your editor.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate readability or word frequency?
No. This workspace provides counts, timing estimates and case conversion. Use the separate Readability Score or Keyword Density Checker tool for those different tasks.
Why might counts differ from my editor?
Words are split on whitespace, sentences on punctuation and paragraphs on blank lines. Abbreviations and languages without spaces may differ from editorial or submission-system rules.
