Text Summarizer

Select existing English sentences using a word-frequency heuristic.

Selects existing English sentences by word frequency and preserves their order. It does not understand meaning or rewrite text. Check omitted context, quotations and facts against your source. Abbreviations can split sentences incorrectly.

What this tool does

Choose a short extract from English text. The tool ranks sentences by repeated non-stop words, selects up to the requested count and restores source order. It does not understand meaning, verify facts or write a new summary. Review the extract against the original.

How to use Text Summarizer

  1. Paste English source text. Use text you can compare with the result. The application accepts up to 100,000 characters. Abbreviations and unusual punctuation can cause imperfect sentence boundaries.
  2. Choose an extract length. Select 3, 6 or 10 sentences, then press Summarize. If the source has fewer sentences, the result contains fewer. Repeated sentences are treated as separate occurrences within the selected limit.
  3. Review before using. Compare the selected sentences with the source. Restore missing context or attribution yourself. Editing the source or changing the length clears the previous result.

How this tool works

Scores sentences using average frequency of non-stop words, selects sentence occurrences by index and restores original order.

  • Engine: English-oriented extractive sentence ranking
  • Supported input: English source text
  • Output: Original sentences in source order

Worked example

Input: Cats sleep. Dogs bark. Cats purr. Select 2 sentences in the logic helper.

Output: Cats sleep. Cats purr.

Frequently asked questions

Does this rewrite or understand the source?

No. It selects existing sentences using English-oriented word-frequency rules. Important qualifications and context may be omitted. It cannot assess whether an extract accurately represents the author’s meaning.

Can I use other languages or abbreviations?

The scoring rules are intended for English, not multilingual summarization. Non-Latin scripts are rejected. Periods, question marks, exclamation marks and line breaks are treated as boundaries, so abbreviations can split incorrectly.

Is information sent to a server?

Tool inputs are processed in this browser. This product does not use analytics or send your input to an external API. Clicking an external website link still visits that website.
